Dear Nicky,
So here I am still wiped out but I'm writing a little earlier tonight just so I can catch you up on the week's events. Not a whole lot of stuff happened but it's just been kind of rough because Mom's been away and you were sick for most of the week and June's just been acting crazy at night. So anyway, here's what happened. On Sunday Mom left for Georgia for a trial that's taken up over a week and hasn't even given her the opportunity to testify. That evening the three of us went over to Granny's for dinner. On Monday I sent you to Stones and Junie to preschool and Lunch Bunch and I went to the gym for some cardio. When you came home that evening your nose looked a little stuffy but not bad. That night you fussed and woke up a lot in the middle of the night, and the next morning you had a high fever so I kept you home. Later during your nap you started coughing like a barking seal which is something I never want to hear because it means trouble. So I took you and Junie to the docs. Turns out you have the flu. While we're there both you and your sister behaved terribly, crying and acting awful. We drove around for a while to get your prescriptions filled and I yelled at both of you, but mostly Junie because she was just so annoying. Anyway we got the medicine in you and you slept great and woke up fine the next day. I kept you home just as a precaution. We spent most of the day watching movies because the cleaning lady was here and it was one of her longer sessions. She even watched you for me for the seven minutes it took me to drop June off at school. Nice lady. That night I made you guys some steak with plenty of leftovers. The next morning I took you down to Children's Specialized to have your orthotics recast. Again you flipped out on me, with much flailing, crying, and overall snottiness. Afterward, to remain productive, we went over to the optician, who adjust all three pairs of your glasses, while you slept all the while, exhausted from your earlier tantrum. Then we came home and soon your sitter was here to take over. I was out of here like a shot. She gave you an early dinner of leftover steak and put you to bed. Then around 11:30 last night, June woke up and had some kind of tantrum in the middle of the night. Jeez. This morning I wrestled you into your clothes and got you off to school, where they called me later regarding your nasal discharge yet again. Don't they have anything better to do? Granny picked up June from preschool today and had her all day long. When you got home from Stones, I gave some milk and a snack and then we went back toward Stepping Stones and kept going into West Orange to these horse stables where you had some hippotherapy. You got on a horse, little cowboy! At first you were a little apprehensive, but you quickly got into it, throwing one arm up into the air and shouting "yeehaw." Oh man it was great to see! You really enjoyed it. And I nearly got tears in my eyes. Your therapists adore you too. Afterward, we came home, arriving one minute before Granny and June. June was passed out asleep. I brought her up and put her to bed and once again she flipped out. Finally I got her to sleep and made you some pizza bagels, then shortly thereafter put you to bed. You were asleep almost instantly yourself, cowboy. It's been a long week. Mom should be home tonight, thank goodness.
Love,
Dad
