My Sunday...

Dear Nicky,

So this morning Mom took you to Granny's to hang out and go to the mall. I was left to my own devices. I just hung out, too, and straightened up and cleaned around the house. Then I went outside and finished my latest book. It was very enjoyable in that the characters seemed real and their stories were surprisingly touching. It was called Eventide. While it is nice to get a little time to myself once in a while, summer Sundays can get a bit lonely sometimes. There's not that much to do around here, and urban summers are kind of the worst. There's always been a certain degree of romanticism, in my mind, associated with densely populated urban areas baking in the summer heat, but this romanticism doesn't make up for the fact that it's hot and crowded everywhere. Mom said the two of you got stuck in some traffic. I had your last bottle of the day made and ready for you when you two got home. Mom also brought home some barbecue chicken and pasta salad, which I enjoyed eating.

Love,
Dad
