Like a drug...
Dear Nicky,
First off, I apologize for making you gag earlier. I was overconfident and too fast. My bad for making you spit up the way you did. Champion that you are, you didn't even complain. But I sure felt bad anyway. Fortunately I had an image in my mind that helped me deal with--and will always help--feeling bad. This afternoon we went for a walk and then too a seat on a park bench. You fell asleep in your stroller. It was a very nice day and fresh oxygen really knocks you out. You slept while I read for a bit. Then at one point when I just happened to be looking at your little face, your eyes rolled open and locked on mine. You looked at me like you expected to see me, and you gave me a big, slow smile that was so warm and full of intelligence that I knew you recognized me. It was real thrill!
Love,
Dad
